PART THREE
BROILER RAISING FROM PERIOD OF GROWTH TO MARKET
Factors to consider during the growth period of broilers.
TEMPERATURE AND AIR
Make sure the temperature is at the required level because this is the period when many chickens die because of the extreme heat. Also make sure there is a cycle of fresh air coming in and dirty air coming out to avoid the accumulation of dirty air such as ammonia that causes extreme heat and eventually kills the chicken
LIGHT
light is an important thing at this period helps chicken to grow well, especially strengthen bones, it also enables chicken to see food and water, and do other activities like running, running and jumping. The hours of light during this period are 12 and for countries that are in the tropical zone like Tanzania, sunlight is enough for broilers.
FOOD AND WATER
Proper feeding of broiler chickens will help the chickens grow well. Always make sure the food equipment (feeders) and water (drinkers) are clean before putting food or other water.
During this period, the chickens should be given Grower food in the form of drips so that the chickens can get all the nutrients at the same time and grow quickly. Make sure you weigh 1.0 kg (1000 grams) of feed per chicken each day.
Also, one week before selling the chickens, make sure you switch to another type of food called Finisher, with which you will measure 1.5 kg (1500 grams) of food for each chicken every day. Here it depends on how many weeks you breed, but it is recommended to breed broilers for at least six weeks.
The table below shows the type of food in each week that is needed for each age
Chicken water must be clean all the time to prevent chicken diseases.
WEIGHT
For good weight monitoring, you should measure the weight of chickens every seven days to find out how your chickens are doing and to evaluate how to gain a good weight during the marketing period.
Refer to the table in part two, in the part of chick feeding for the weight factor to see the required weight for each age.
VACCINES AND MEDICINES
It is recommended to give them vitamins every three days to give them strength and remove any challenge they will face such as temperature changes.
On the 21st day, it is necessary to vaccinate Newcastle Vaccine which you mix in water for two hours, then you give them vitamins.
On the 28th day (four weeks) give them Infectious Bursal Disease vaccine which you also mix in water for two hours, then you give them vitamins.
CHICKEN HOUSE
Make sure the house is dry all the time to avoid diseases caused by the dampness of the tent such as Coccidiosis and foot injury, to achieve this it is recommended to turn the wood shaves every week to keep it dry all the time.
After learning about the feeding of broilers, broilers during the growth period until they are sold. In the next last part we will learn about Diseases that affect broilers. Don't miss this important part.
