BROILER RAISING

PART ONE

Broiler is a type of chicken that is raised to produce meat. This type of broiler has the characteristics of growing faster than modern egg chickens and natural chickens, they can reach up to 2.4 to 2.8 kg within six weeks but they can be sold in the fourth week with 1.5 to 1.8 kg and this will only be possible for effective monitoring and feeding of chickens.

Benefits of chickens to raise broilers

1.  Broilers are raised for a short period of time to meet market demand based on indigenous chickens.
2.  Broilers produce more meat in less time than all other chickens.
3. The cost of raising broiler chickens is higher than that of modern egg-laying chickens. Which means;

• The construction of a broiler house takes up less space compared to laying hens.
• Broiler chicken feeds are not as expensive as egg or hybrid chickens..
• The cost of vaccinations and medicines is not a bee compared to the maya chicken
• The market for broiler chickens is not difficult if you raise them properly to reach the required weight in the market

As with other chickens and other animals, broiler farming also needs to have the following items; Sheds, feeding equipment, food (which accounts for 60-70% of the rearing cost), clean water and vaccinations for good growth without any Storm.

 Before building a shed, choosing the right location should be considered. These are important factors to consider in choosing the right location to build a shed.

The area to build the shed should not be steep (it should be flat) and it should not drain water, this will help reduce the cost of building the foundation of the shed.

A good area is also one that is far from human settlements, this will also help protect against disease germs (for example, bacteria and viruses) that can be spread by humans. 

Good construction of the shed should follow the direction of the sun, the two short sides should face the sun, that is, one side to the east and the other to the west, to protect the chickens from being hit by direct sunlight.

A good poultry house should have the following characteristics;

1. It should be able to breathe fresh air at all times, and it should also be able to let in light where it is used.
2. It should be able to prevent rain from entering and wind during severe winter.
3. It should be able to prevent insects and dangerous animals for chickens from entering.
4. It should be able to be dry at all times.
5. There should be enough space according to the number of chickens, as well as feeding and watering equipment.
6. It should be able to be cleaned easily.
7. It is also good that the shed has its own stoo to store food for feeding.
8. It should be built cheaply and be durable.

THE BASIS

The chicken coop, like the ones in the back, even for living, must have a good foundation that will be able to support the coop. And after completing the foundation, it is good to raise two lines of bricks on the long side of the shed and build with bricks up to the top of the short sides of the shed to hold the roof of the shed.

 FLOOR

A good shed for raising chickens and animals, its floor should be built using concrete (concreate floor) to be able to absorb the moisture inside the band and make the shed dry all the time.

WINDOWS

The windows of the pavilion should be large enough to pass fresh air at all times, it is recommended that the long side should have nets from there after the two lines of bricks up to the top to be able to bring in fresh air at all times.

ROOF

A good shed roof should be able to prevent rain from entering especially during the spring and also prevent light from entering the shed directly. A good roof is one that is built using tin.

BAND SPACE

The size of the shed should be built according to the number of chickens and the number of equipment that will be used for feeding. One thing to know is that one broiler needs one and a half square feet.
